A Waterloo man has been arrested in Fayette County on a driving charge.


At about 5pm Monday (March 25), a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy pulled over a car on a traffic violation. After conducting an investigation, the officer arrested the driver, 29 year old Michael Hawthorne of Waterloo, on a charge of Driving While his License is Suspended. Hawthorne was held in the Fayette County jail in West Union, until his initial court appearance.

An Oelwein woman was arrested over the weekend, for an outstanding warrant. Shortly after 2pm Saturday, deputies located and arrested 31 year old Elizabeth Schmidtke, on a Fayette County warrant. The original charge was Theft in the Fifth Degree. Schmidtke was held in the Fayette County jail on $600 cash or surety bond.
