Charges are pending against a Northeast Iowa man, for allegedly driving while impaired, putting his vehicle in a farm field.


The incident was reported to the Linn County Sheriff, just before midnight Wednesday (Dec. 25), on Scott Road, near Marion.

Authorities determined that the driver, 37 year old Chad Wireman of Janesville, was driving drunk when he lost control of his vehicle.

According to witnesses, Wireman was northbound at a high rate of speed, when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle went out of control, entered a ditch, then went airborne, coming to rest in a field.

Wireman was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital for treatment. According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office which is investigating, the charges are still pending, including Operating While Intoxicated.
