
Watch For Deer While Driving!
Fayette County sheriff's officials recently responded to a series of vehicle accidents involving deer. The three crashes occurred in a span of four days, and caused an estimated total of $6,500 in damage.
The most-recent accident happened Monday, just after 10 PM, on U.S Highway 18 about two miles west of West Union. According to authorities, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Kyle Wurzer of West Union sustained about $2,000 damage. Wurzer escaped the wreck uninjured, officials said.
The other crashes occurred Friday near Fayette.
Sheriff's officials said 23-year-old Katlin Armbrecht of Eldora struck a deer with her car around 10 PM at a rural intersection south of the city. They estimated damage to Armbrecht's vehicle at $3,000, but she escaped injury.
Friday's second crash happened just after 11:15 PM. Authorities said 27-year-old Daniel Andersen of Jesup struck a deer while driving on Iowa Highway 150 north of Fayette. Andersen also escaped injury, but his vehicle sustained about $1,500 in damage.
