While the first day of Fall doesn't arrive until September 23rd, it sure is beginning to feel like my favorite season of the year! Temperatures are slowly falling. Leaves are showing the first signs of turning color. And pumpkin patches and orchards are getting ready for the busiest time of year. One of the most popular pumpkin patches and farms in Linn County will open for the season this Saturday!

Living in Marion, my family made an annual trip north on Alburnett Road to Bart's Farm and Pumpkin Patch nearly every year when our kids were young. They of course have plenty of pumpkins for sale, but there is so much more to enjoy. The small family farm makes it seem like you're in the middle of rural Iowa, and not just a mile away from Marion. The popular fall destination is putting the finishing touches on decorations and attractions and has announced that they will officially open this weekend!

Bart's Farm and Pumpkin Patch will officially open on Saturday at 9 a.m. Kids can visit the animals in the barn or take a pony ride. There is a corn maze, hayrack rides, face painting, and more! And if you're looking to put together your fall display, you'll be able to purchase pumpkins, straw bales, and cornstalk bundles on-site!

  • Pony Rides - $7 per child
  • Corn Maze - $3
  • Hayrides - $2
  • Face Painting - $7
  • Pumpkins - priced by size
  • Cornstalk bundles - $18
  • Straw Bales - small $6, large $8

A trip to Bart's is a fall tradition for many families, including mine. As you can see from the picture below, it's been a few years since we've had our picture taken there! A trip to Bart's will no doubt be in our future this year. It wouldn't be Fall without them!
