Oelwein’s Newest Gas Station Sets Grand Opening Date
The wait is almost over for Oelwein’s newest gas station to open up.
Construction of Oelwein’s newest Kwik Star began back in May on the corner of Highway 150 South and 14th Street SE. The station will be complete with a convenience store, the car wash, a diesel bar, an expanded take-and-bake food line, and more groceries/travel items says the Oelwein Daily Register.
The Oelwein station will include the premade meals that people can buy and reheat in their own kitchen, work, or wherever they are able to. This was an idea that began back in 2020 that was very successful, so the company decided to include it in the Oelwein store as well as other new stores they build.
As of this week, crew members were working to put the brick exterior on the Oelwein store. This portion of the job is being done by The Joseph Company, Design Builders out of Austin, Minnesota and they told the Oelwein Daily Register that their part of the project will be done in the next two weeks. Then the crew that handles the interior construction will be able to come in and do their part of the project.
The grand opening of the new store will be in October. Oelwein Chamber and Area Development Executive Director Deb Howard says that a ribbon cutting is planned for October 18th.
Kwik Star is a Midwest gas station that is based in La Crosse Wisconsin. It goes two different names depending on where you are located, Kwik Trip in Wisconsin and Minnesota and Kwik Star in Iowa and Illinois.
