Iowa Farmer Honors Late Dad In A Special Way

Families have their own ways to celebrate a loved one that is special to them. A perfect example of this is in Pocahontas County. For the average person driving through the area, you will just see the typical Iowa sights, corn and soybeans- but there is more to those fields.

Tim Ricklefs of Pocahontas County poured his life into farming the land with his wife and his seven children.

But last spring the family was struck with tragedy when Tim passed away from heart failure says an article in KCCI.

The news came as planting season came upon them and when it comes to planting, the family had to keep working.

Wanting to pay a tribute to their father, his son Brian, had a perfect idea.

Since this was the first year Tim was not a part of the planting season, what better way to honor him than in the field.

The Ricklefs used a soybean field to write a message to Tim in heaven. Tim’s wife Jann told KCCI,

Somewhere up above, Tim is looking down, and it's just using his passion and his interest to tell him how much we love him.

The message, written in a 100-acre soybean field is simple but straight to the paint— “miss you dad”

While the message is only visible from the air, the family knows the message is clear for their dad.
