
Driver Killed in Crash Involving Semi on Slick Minnesota Highway
Hinckley, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Minnesota man lost his life in a crash on a snowy highway Wednesday morning.

One of the two vehicles involved in the deadly crash was a semi truck.
The State Patrol responded to the fatal collision shortly after 11:30 a.m. and says the road had snow and ice on it at the time of the deadly incident.

The fatality was one of 161 crashes reported statewide from midnight through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
Along with the deadly collision, the State Patrol says April snow contributed to 22 injury crashes, 225 vehicles off the road, six spin outs and six jackknifed semis.

Wednesday’s deadly crash occurred on Hwy. 48 east of Hinckley. The driver of a westbound pick-up lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to slide in front of the semi truck, which was traveling east.
The pick-up came to rest in the northern ditch while the semi ended up in the southern ditch along the highway, the state crash report indicates.
67-year-old Gary Eugene Thompson of Hinckley was driving the pick-up. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was not wearing his seatbelt, the State Patrol says.
50-year-old Corey William Klehr was identified as the truck driver. The Pine City man escaped the deadly crash without injuries, according to the state crash report.
