McLeod Madness reached an all-time high with the UNI Panthers' stunning upset of top-ranked North Carolina in Cedar Falls on Saturday (Nov. 21, 2015).

According to Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) officials, UNI's 71-67 victory against the Tar Heels at the McLeod Center marked the first time in the league's 109-year history that a non-conference No. 1 team lost to an MVC team on its home court.

The last top-rated team to play at a Missouri Valley Conference venue was Arkansas, which beat Tulsa in overtime on Dec. 23, 1993.

Saturday's win by the Panthers gives UNI a 2-0 mark against top-ranked teams.

It was the MVC's eighth all-time win against a No. 1 -- all of them since the 1949-50 season, when the Associated Press poll began. The other seven wins were all on neutral courts, including UNI's memorable 69-67 victory over Kansas in the second-round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City (To watch highlights, click the video below).
