BREAKING: Major Fire at Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo [PHOTO]
**UPDATE** At roughly 9:15 p.m., KWWL reported an update. It appears the fire engulfed a 1500-square foot queue shelter building that was to be used as a barrier for customers while they wait in line.
KWWL says the owner of Lost Island, Eric Bertch, confirmed the fire started when a temporary heating unit caught a blanket on fire. Also destroyed in the fire was the control panel for the Flume water ride.
The fire occurred at the southern portion of the park which is near the Isle Hotel and Casino on the south side of Shaulis Road. Scroll down to see a photo of the blaze shared on Facebook. There were several calls to 911.
No one was hurt and, more positive news, this will not delay the opening of the park, according to Bertch. A soft opening is still set to happen in May or June. Furthermore, crews will begin rebuilding the shelter structure as soon as possible.
The Lost Island water park was not affected and is set to open on weekends in May.
