WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — An 8-year-old Waterloo girl is recovering after a dog bit off part of her ear.

Innocence Robertson was playing at a friend's Waterloo house Monday afternoon when the dog was let out to get a treat.

Robertson says the dog came after her and her cousin. She says the dog jumped up, grabbed her head and she fell down.

Her mother, Dandrea Archer, says the dog tore off part of the girl's left ear and pulled out some of her hair. She says animal control workers took the dog, and she was told the animal isn't up to date on its shots. Archer also says the owners plan to euthanize the dog.

Robertson is scheduled to see a specialist today (Tuesday, May 24)
