Winter Weather a Factor in 2 Accidents Near Wadena
Slick driving conditions may have been a factor in two accidents, minutes apart this morning (Tuesday, Jan. 10), in the same area.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the first accident happened just before 8am at the intersection of Bush Road and Cable Road, just southeast of Wadena.
An SUV driven by 63 year old Kristine Morarend of Strawberry Point, slid off the road due to weather conditions; it flipped upside down, with Morarend trapped upside-down in the vehicle.
The Wadena Fire Department freed Morarend; she was not injured. The 2000 Jeep was considered a total loss.
While deputies were working on that accident, another vehicle driven by 42 year old Patricia Whittle of Volga, went out of control near the scene of the first incident. Her vehicle entered the ditch and struck a tree.
Whittle was not injured, but there was $5,000 damage to the 2008 Dodge Caliber (photo).
Both accidents are under investigation.
