The Fayette County Sheriff reports a couple of weekend rollover accidents, in which the drivers were charged.

At about 2:30am Sunday (May 22), the sheriff got a report of a rollover accident on Harding Road, near Clermont; the driver had left the scene.

Authorities determined the driver was 19 year old Manish Jha of Elgin; Jha was driving west, when he claimed a deer ran out onto the road, causing him to lose control of the car.

The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled several times.

Jha was treated for minor injuries; his 2004 Toyota Corolla had $5,000 in damage.

Jha was charged with failure to maintain control.

The other accident happened just before midnight Saturday (May 21) on Acorn Road, south of Elgin.

16 year old Lily Poppen of West Union was driving north, when she lost control of her car.

The vehicle entered a ditch and rolled.

No one was injured, but there was $2,000 damage to the 2001 Chevrolet Impala.
Poppen was charged with failure to maintain control.
