Very Young Area Child Injured in a Farming Accident

A young Southwest Wisconsin child has been seriously injured in a farm accident.

The Grant County Sheriff was summoned at about 7pm Tuesday (June 18) to a residence on Union Road in rural Platteville.

According to authorities, a man had been working in a barn with a conveyor. As the man turned to shut the machinery down, his 20 month old son fell into the unit.

The child, whose name has not been released, sustained serious injuries to both hands, his right arm and shoulder, as well as his chest.

The boy was taken to an area hospital for treatment; there is no indication on the condition of the child, although officials note his injuries were very serious.
