UNI Students Who Don’t Follow COVID Guidelines Could Be Suspended
After videos and pictures surfaced online this past weekend of college bars near the University of Northern Iowa on College Hill packed with college students not practicing social distancing measures including wearing masks, UNI has responded with what the consequences could be.
If you passed by College Hill this weekend or were just on your social media, you probably saw many students lined up outside the bars not wearing masks or practicing social distancing as they celebrated the last weekend before school started back. Not only did this catch the attention of many in the Cedar Valley and multiple news outlets but now the president of UNI, Mark Nook. He has a response to this.
According to KWWL, Mark Nook has responded that although many students, faculty and staff have been abiding by Covid-19 guidelines during school hours, it is the off-campus activity that there is to worry about. UNI President Nook has said that those students who fail to follow social distancing guidelines off- campus as well, will be referred to the student code conduct . According to Nook, the university can and will take action to hold students accountable to these guidelines, even if that means suspension of students. You can check out his full response here.
