Tis the Season For Accidents Involving Deer
A flurry of recent traffic accidents involving deer, are being reported by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
The latest reported accident happened just before midnight on November 25th, on Highway 93, about 3 miles west of Randalia. 18 year old Rosita Hepperle of West Union, was driving west when she struck a deer in the road. No one was injured. Her 2004 Oldsmobile Alero had $1,500 in damage.
On November 23rd at about 5:30pm, the sheriff was called to a car/deer accident near the 16,000 block of Highway 93. A car driven by 23 year old Alvin Nyangau of Fayette, was westbound when it collided with a deer. The car then went out of control and ran into a ditch. No injuries were reported, but there was $2,500 in damages to his 2009 Toyota Corolla.
On November 20th, shortly after 7:30pm, a car driven by 22 year old Collin Halligan of Oelwein hit a deer on Kornhill road, west of Wadena. No injuries were reported, however the 2006 Volvo was totaled.
Also on November 20th, just before 5:30pm, a pickup driven by 28 year old Austin Franzen of West Union, was struck by a deer in the 12,000 block of Highway 150. Franzen was injured; he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His 2016 Silverado had $15,000 in damage.
