Stopping a speeding car in Northeast Iowa has resulted in illegal alcohol charges against the young occupants.
At about 2am Sunday (Sept. 18), a Fayette County deputy stopped a speeding vehicle on "Y" Avenue and Highway 3, a mile north of Oran.

Further investigation determined that three of the passengers had alcohol in the car, and they were under the legal age.

18 year old Jade Wells of Washington, 19 year old Mitchell Evens of Independence, and a 17 year old minor, also from Independence, were cited for Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age.

The youngest teen was referred to juvnile court authorities.
