Semi is Totaled, Driver Injured and Charged in Accident
A semi driver has been charged with causing an accident that totaled his rig in Buchanan County.
The sheriff's office was called out to the accident scene at about 2:30pm Friday (May 10), in the 3100 block of Black Hawk-Buchanan Avenue, west of Brandon.
A semi trailer truck, driven by John Youngman of Ananmosa, was southbound when Youngman failed to negotiate a curve. The semi went off the road, entered the ditch, and rolled over.
Youngman sustained minor injuries. He is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
The 2013 Freightliner Cascadia truck and trailer were totaled, with damage estimated at more than $80,000.
The Buchanan County Sheriff was assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff, Iowa Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, LaPorte City Fire Department, LaPorte City Ambulance, Jesup Fire Department and Brandon Fire Department.
