2019 Iowa High School Girls State Basketball Tournament

The 100th edition of the Iowa High School Girls State Basketball Tournament came to a close on Saturday (March 4, 2019). Started in 1920, the tournament is the oldest of its kind in the United States.

Five teams won championships at the 2019 tournament.

On Friday night, West Des Moines Valley beat Southeast Polk, 65-60, to claim its second Class 5A title in three years and Center Point-Urbana won the 3A crown with a 54-36 victory over North Polk.

On Saturday, North Scott survived three late shots by Marion and beat the Indians 50-49 for its second Class 4A title in three years. In Class 2A, Treynor handed top-ranked Grundy Center its first loss of the season and sent the Spartans home with a loss in championship game for the second straight year. In Class 1A, Newell-Fonda completed a dominating run through the 100th state tournament with a 76-52 victory over West Hancock for its second championship.
