New Footage from Mars in 4K Resolution
According to the New York Post, this 10-minute video was created using thousands of photos taken by three rovers — Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity — and beamed back to Earth.
The rovers can connect with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter for only about 8 minutes of each Martian day. In that time, between 100 and 250 megabits of data can be transmitted to the orbiter. Curiosity is the only active rover still transmitting information.
The next rover to land on Mars will be 'Perseverance' with a scheduled launch date of July 30th and landing on Mars sometime in February 2021.
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter launched in 2005 and has been orbiting Mars since 2006.
