NE Iowa Semi Rollovers Mixed Milk and Dog Food In Water [PHOTOS]
Truck drivers in northeast Iowa suffered injuries earlier this week after two semis rolled over into bodies of water.
On Monday evening in Guttenberg, crews were dispatched to the 300 block of North Highway 52 after a semi hauling milk crashed and rolled into a nearby pond.
Crews worked to help the driver and remove the truck from the water. The truck driver was transported to Guttenberg Hospital to assess injuries and for treatment.
According to reports, the truck was hauling around 4,800 gallons of milk at the time of the crash. As a result of the crash, milk leaked from the tank into the pond. The Linn County Regional Hazmat Team was contacted to to assist when it was determined the truck was leaking into the pond.
The DNR has been contacted to assess the situation to check for any water or environmental issues in the pond.
Semi Overturns Off Bridge
On Tuesday, a semi hauling dog food lost control and overturned into a waterway.
A semi hauling around 73,000 pounds of dog food was traveling 150th and Indiana Avenue in Buchanan County, when it lost control on the icy roadway. According to reports, the semi broke through a guardrail on a bridge and landed on its side in the water below.
The semi leaked fuel and oil into the waterway causing the Linn County Regional Hazmat Team to be called in for assistance.
The driver, assisted by first responders, was able to get out of the vehicle and only suffered from minor injuries.
