More Iowans Being Tested For Coronavirus

More Iowans are being tested for coronavirus as the disease begins to spread across the United States. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Iowa Department of Public Health tested two more Iowans for COVID-19.

Public health officials are not releasing any other details about the individuals being tested but said that the tests were done in accordance with guidelines from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A 24-hour turnaround is expected for the test results. Previous tests in Iowa for coronavirus have all come back negative.

Health officials continue to stress that right now, the overall risk to Iowans is low. Officials are encouraging residents to take everyday public health precautions such as covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often and staying home from work if you are sick.

There have been more than 87,000 cases of COVID-19 worldwide and 2900 deaths. Monday, 11 new cases were reported in the United States bringing the countries total to 100. There have been 6 reported deaths.
