Minor Traffic Accident Leads to Major Fire

An area woman escaped injury in a firey one-vehicle accident in Buchanan County.

Just before 5pm Saturday (March 4), the Buchanan County Sheriff was notified of a vehicle fire in the 3,000 block of Brandon Diagonal Boulevard, near Brandon.

A car driven by Nicole Lehman of Brandon was southbound, when the vehicle left the road and entered a field of dry cornstalks.

The 2005 Chevrolet Impala became enfulfed in flames, however Lehman was able to get out of the car unharmed.

The fire then spread across a large area of the dry field; it was extinguished by the Brandon Fire Department and Rowley Fire Department.
