Luther College in Decorah has announced the selection of the school's next president.


Luther's Board of Regents has unanimously chosen Dr. Jenifer K. Ward; she is currently the Provost and Dean of College for Centenary College of Louisiana. She will take the reigns of Luther College on July 1st of this year.

Dr. Ward has also served as professor of modern language and culture, and the Caroline and Ed Crawford Eminent Scholars Chair of Liberal Arts at Centenary. The school is the only tier-one national liberal arts college in Louisiana.

Prior to Centenary, Dr. Ward served as dean at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington, and also held positions at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minnesota, Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.
Luther's current president, Dr. Paula J. Carlson, is retiring on June 30th. Dr. Carlson held the seat for five years.

Dr. Ward will be Luther's 11th president, since it's beginnings in 1857. She was elected by unanimous vote, by the 13 member presidential search committee on the Luther College Board of Regents.

Luther College is a liberal arts institution, with 2,005 enrolled students.
