Oelwein Police Arrest Man Wanted in Black Hawk County

Oelwein Police have arrested a man wanted in Black Hawk County for several offenses, including escape, illegal drug possession, and a sex offender violation.

37 year old Willie Phillips was taken into custody Sunday (March 17) at about 12:30pm, in the 100 block of 5th Avenue SW in Oelwein.

Phillips was wanted in Black Hawk County for Escape from Custody, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, and a Sex Offender Registry Violation.

Phillips is also wanted out of the Oakdale Placement Facility. After his arrest, he was transferred to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

And an Oelwein man was arrested early Sunday after a traffic stop. Oelwein Police pulled over a car in the 100 block of 10th Street SE. Following an investigation, the driver, 39 year old Jason Laurie, was taken into custody on a charge of OWI-1st Offense.
