Local Man Jailed on Assault Charges

An Oelwein man has been arrested on an assault charge.

At about 12:45am Sunday (June 16), Oelwein Police took 38 year old Jason Herrera into custody on charges of Assault on Persons Engaged in Certain Occupations, and Interference with Official Acts. The arrest followed an incident in the 10 block of 3rd Avenue SE.

Oelwein Police are also investigating a break-in. The burglary was reported to authorities shortly after 6pm Sunday, in the 900 block of South Frederick.
