A cast loaded with huge stars has been finalized for a classic "rags to riches" story about a humble grocery store stocker that kept dreaming, and eventually evolved into a member of the NFL Hall Of Fame.

The tale of hard work and perseverance of Iowa native, UNI alum, and NFL star Kurt Warner is expected to make it to the silver screen this December. The movie was originally scheduled for release in December 2020, but like many movies, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic delayed production for nearly a year.

The movie is based on Warner's memoir All Things Possible: My Story of Faith, Football, and the First Miracle Season. Last summer, we learned who would portray Warner in the biopic. None other than the star of the movie Shazam, Zachary Levi.

Now the rest of the cast is set for the full-length film, titled American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story.

The role of Kurt's wife, Brenda will be portrayed by Anna Paquin. Panquin has many parts listed on her resume, including playing Rogue in the X-Men franchise. The New Zealand-Canadian actress received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11 for her performance in the 1993 romantic drama The Piano.

Dennis Quaid will play St. Louis Rams head coach Dick Vermeil. The Golden Globes-nominated actor has had a long movie career, most recently appearing in Midway and The Intruder. Quaid is also set to star as President Ronald Reagan in Reagan, set for release in 2022.

Adam Baldwin has been pegged to portray former UNI football coach Terry Allen. Baldwin is most known for his roles in Independence Day and Full Metal Jacket.

Produced by Kingdom Story Company in partnership with Lionsgate, the movie is being shot at locations in Atlanta and Oklahoma City. Filming began this week and is expected to conclude on March 6. Kurt and Brenda Warner are listed as producers.
