Nine murals of old photos have been put up all across the downtown district. A University of Northern Iowa graduate student is behind all of these huge murals. This is Isaac Campbell's master's thesis and also an attempt to promote "togetherness" as we face the (hopefully) end of the COVID pandemic.
A 2016 incident at the University of Northern Iowa that left a sound technician injured appears to have been resolved. Francesco Sgambellone of Massachusetts was working at a Luke Bryan concert when he sustained an injury, as reported by the Des Moines Register. According to reports, Sgambellone was loading up sound equipment into a truck when a forklift backed up into him.
College is way too expensive these days. There is currently a possibility that several of Iowa's university's will have to put a cap on their tuition. A bill in the Iowa House of Representatives has been proposed to freeze tuition rates and state funding to three of the state's public colleges, as reported by Iowa State Daily.
