After a tumultuous couple of weeks in the state of Iowa, the Carson King saga has had more ups and downs than a roller-coaster...where pretty much everyone has taken King's side.

The list of supporters includes Iowa Oktoberfest's Chad Shipman. According to Shipman, festival organizers have decided Busch Light will NOT be available at this weekend's celebration.

Shipman told KWWL he understands King’s explanation addressing what he did as a teenager eight years ago. When he was in high school, King tweeted some racist comments that he now admits were regrettable. Those tweets stemmed from the show "Tosh.O" on Comedy Central, a network that Anheuser-Busch/In-Bev spends a lot of money on. He said the move to pull Busch Light was best for their event and to support King’s cause instead.

In the interview with KWWL, Shipman said Iowa Oktoberfest wanted to show support for King's cause -- raising money for the University of Iowa's Stead Family Children's Hospital -- more than supporting a beer product.

Iowa Oktoberfest is Friday and Saturday (Sept. 27-28) in downtown Waterloo. The event takes place at Anton’s Beer Garden, located at the corner of East 4th and Sycamore Streets.
