For the third straight game, a ranked opponent came into Carver-Hawkeye Arena looking for a tough Big Ten road win. For the third straight game, they were denied!

After blasting #12 Maryland and outlasting #19 Michigan, the Iowa Hawkeyes held on last night to defeat #24 Rutgers 85-80. The last time Iowa knocked off three ranked teams in a row at home was 2006.

Last night's game was a tough matchup between two very good Big Ten teams. It was also a game of runs. After getting down by 8 early, Iowa went on a 33-13 run to suddenly put them up by 10. But Rutgers slowly chipped away at the Iowa lead and went up by one, 77-76 with 2:25 left to play. Some clutch free throws and a nice three-pointer by Joe Weiskamp iced the Iowa win.

The night once again belonged to Iowa center Luka Garza. He was again, unstoppable. His line, 28 points, 13 rebound, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. Unreal. He had a double, double in the second half alone! Joe Weiskamp had 18 points for Iowa and Joe Touissant had his best game as a Hawkeye scoring 14 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.

Iowa improves to 14-5 overall, 5-3 in Big Ten play. They host Wisconsin on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
