Icy roads contributed to at least 3 accidents in Fayette County Monday evening.


The first one was a one vehicle rollover, reported at about 5pm near Elgin. 67 year old Judson Francis of Monona was driving south on Cedar Road, when he lost control on the ice-covered road. The vehicle entered a ditch and rolled. The 2009 Chevrolet Express was totaled. Francis was not injured.

Another accident happened just before 6pm on 240th Street east of West Union. An eastbound pickup driven by 58 year old Todd Wolverton of West Union, struck a stop sign at the intersection with Harding Road. There was $1,500 in damages.

And at about 8pm, deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident on W-51, 2 and a half miles north of Arlington. 18 year old Ryan Hallberg of Elgin was driving north when he lost control on the ice-coated road. The vehicle went into the ditch and struck a sign. No one was injured, but there was $4,000 damage to the vehicle.
All three accidents remain under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
