The Fayette County Sheriff reports some Labor Day holiday weekend traffic accidents, two of them involving motorcycles.

At about 6pm Saturday (Sept. 3), the sheriff was alerted of a motorcycle accident, north of Clermont, on Harding Road. 62 year old Larry Nading of Elgin was headed south, when he failed to negotiate a curve. Nading lost control, and the motorcycle went into the ditch, ejecting the driver. Nading was initially taken to the West Union hospital, then flown to a LaCrosse hospital; a condition report was not released. The 2002 Harley Davidson was totaled; charges are pending.

Shortly after 4pm Sunday (Sept. 4) the sheriff got another 911 call concerning a motorcycle accident; this time, it was northwest of Arlington near the intersection of "G" Avenue and Kornhill Road. 66 year old John Kommelter of Waterloo was driving south, when a dog ran out onto the road, causing a collision. Kommelter was taken to the West Union hospital; his 2008 Harley had $5,000 in damages.

And just before 9pm Sunday, the sheriff was informed of a car/deer accident near the intersection of Highway 18 and "P" Avenue, just outside of Hawkeye. A deer had ran out onto the highway, and crashed into a car driven by 62 year old Donald Butikofer of Waucoma. No one was injured, but there was $4,000 damage to the car.
