A Northeast Iowa highway had to be closed down for over an hour Monday morning, after a semi loaded with hogs rolled over.

It happened just before 7am Monday, on Highway 18, east of West Union. A semi, loaded with market hogs, and driven by 23 year old Kyle Bishop of West Union, went out of control and rolled onto the highway.

Bishop was not hurt, but about 30 hogs were killed. The rest were taken to a local farm.

Authorities closed the road until it could be cleared for traffic.

Bishop is being charged with failure to maintain control.
