Get Ready For A Wild Week Of Weather In Eastern Iowa
If you've been on a rollercoaster of emotions lately for whatever reason, you're not alone. So is Mother Nature.
If the song Hot N Cold by Katy Perry comes to your head after reading this and is stuck there until Thursday, you're not alone.
If the phrase, "You have got to be f@*#!ing kidding me," comes out of your mouth Wednesday morning, you will certainly not be alone.
The weather this week in Iowa and much of Illinois will not only reflect an emotionally unstable person, but it will probably cause you to become emotionally unstable, especially in the middle of this week.
We Start The Week Hot Like Summer
If you haven't felt or seen it yet, we're currently in the early part of summer. Monday and Tuesday are bringing record daily highs and possibly a February high. We'll see highs in the low 70s both Monday and Tuesday which is awesome.
With the high temps and lack of moisture, most of Iowa and northern Illinois is in a Red Flag Warning. 13 counties in Iowa are under a Burn Ban, including Scott, Clinton, and Muscatine counties.
If you live on the Illinois side, you could also see some server thunderstorms late Tuesday night before we get a massive cold snap.
After a warm start to the week then the cold comes rushing in.
Freezing Temperatures And Snow? Yep
Wednesday morning is when we'll snap back to reality and it will actually feel like February.
Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, we have a 30-60% chance of snow. The ground is too warm to let anything stick and we'll see less than an inch of snow.
Highs on Wednesday will be at or barely above freezing (32°), and Thursday will bring highs in the mid to upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
Back To Summer For The Weekend
There is a happy ending to this story. We'll see summer-like temperatures as we wrap up our weekend.
We'll get back into the 50s on Friday with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, we don't have a repeat next week but it looks like we'll stay above 50° by the middle of next week, according to KWQC.
