It's been an interesting year, hasn't it? I feel like Iowans feel optimism. I know I do. COVID-19 numbers are down across our 99 counties. Vaccine number are creeping up. Slower than most would like, but they're trending up. I know I'm excited to get jabbed as I feel it's doing my part to protect others.

Unfortunately though, the pandemic has cancelled a slew of events over the past 11 months. Events that we'll maybe get back in some way shape or form, but sadly missed in 2020. One event that COVID has now, in part, impacted in 2021 is Funky Junk-A-Loo. The annual sale of unique and repurposed goods, which was also canceled in 2021, was scheduled for March 20 & 21 at the The Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center.

According to a press release from Main Street Waterloo Executive Director Jessica Rucker, venue construction was also a reason to postpone the event. The event has been moved to the weekend of September 18th.

If you're not familiar with Funky Junk-A-Loo, the event sees The Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center transformed into a re-purposed paradise and a sea of antiques. It's reach is far greater than the Cedar Valley, vendors from all over the Midwest come to showcasing their merchandise.

Let's keep our hopes up that events this fall will go as planned. All signs seem to point to increased normality coming this summer so, there's no reason not to be optimistic that the event will happen, and continue to in March going forward from 2021.
