Faulty Brake Lights on Trailer Cause Accident
A Waterloo motorist is being cited in a two-vehicle accident in Buchanan County.
Authorities were notified at about 4pm Saturday (Feb. 25) of a traffic accident in the 1100 block of Fairbank-Amish Boulevard, east of Fairbank.
A northbound pickup hauling a trailer being driven by Jan Figi of Waterloo, slowed to make a right turn into a driveway.
Due to faulty brake lights on the trailer, a driver behind Figi, Jon Doese of Fairbank, could not slow in time, and at first, tried to pass on the left. However, because of an oncoming vehicle, had to try to pass on the right, colliding with the side of the pickup.
No one was injured.
Figi was charged with Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance, and faulted for having faulty or defective rear lamps.
