TAMA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say four people died when a semitrailer truck smashed into their car in eastern Iowa.

The crash happened Friday evening where Highways 21 and 30 meet near Tama, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says an eastbound semitrailer truck struck the side of a southbound Chevrolet Impala just before 5 p.m.

All four victims were in the car. Authorities say 68-year-old William Willis and 65-year-old Linda Faye Willis of San Antonio, Texas, and 89-year-old George Eggers and 88-year-old Delorise Smith Eggers of Memphis, Missouri, died in the crash.

The truck driver was not hurt seriously.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
