Authorities continue to investigate a weekend accident involving a Utility Terrain Vehicle, that injured two people.


The Johnson County Sheriff's Office reports that they were called out at about 4pm Saturday (Nov. 7), to the accident site on private property, along Highway 1 near Solon.

A UTV, operated by 41 year old Brian Tucker of rural Johnson County, went out of control, rolling over and ejecting the passenger, a 9 year old child. The child, who was not identified, sustained minor injuries.

Tucker was pinned under the UTV. He was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment of serious injuries.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, neither of the 2 riders were wearing helmets.

The accident is still under investigation.
