WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Prosecutors are reviewing the death of a 4-year-old girl who died last June to determine whether to file charges.

Gracie Vernell Buss' death is being reviewed.

An autopsy determined the girl suffered serious head injuries, but it didn't determine how she got those injuries.

Waterloo Police Capt. David Mohlis says his investigators have turned the case over to the Black Hawk County Attorney's office.

A man who was dating Gracie's mother at the time of her death remains in jail on unrelated burglary and drug charges. Search warrants focusing on that 31-year-old were filed after Gracie's death.
