An Arlington man has now been charged in connection with a traffic accident in June, that caused a power outage in the city.

Following a month-and-a-half investigation, 40 year old Paul Hines has been arrested on a Fayette County warrant, on charges of OWI 2nd Offense, Driving while his license is revoked, Reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, 2 counts of striking fixtures on a highway, not wearing his seat belt, having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, and failure to maintain control.

Hines was taken into custody on Thursday. The charges stem from the investigation of a June 12th accident in Arlington.

Hines was the driver of a car that went out of control, hit a utility pole, then rolled. Hines fled on foot from the scene, but was later located by authorities. He was treated at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo for his injuries.

His car was totaled and there was damage to a mail box and a power pole, which caused a temporary electrical outage for a portion
of Arlington.

The Fayette County Sheriff was in charge of the investigation.
