The Fayette County sheriff is investigating a rollover accident that happened south of Fayette.

Just before 6pm Friday, authorities received a 911 call, reporting an accident in which someone was injured, on County road C-24.

The investigation determined that a pickup driven by 66 year old Gerald Engels of Fayette, went out of control, struck the ditch, and rolled.

Engels had to be extricated from the vehicle; he was taken to the West Union hospital for treatment. The pickup was totaled.

Engels is being charged with failure to maintain control.

The Fayette County sheriff was assisted by the Fayette Police department, Fayette Fire and ambulance, and first responders.
