A Hawkeye woman has been arrested for allegedly forging checks from an elderly resident, while employed as their care-taker.

55 year old Stacie June Martin was taken into custody by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Thursday (May 19).

She is being charged with forgery, a Class "D" felony.

Family members of the elderly person Martin was caring for, contacted the Fayette County Sheriff in early May.

An investigation began, revealing that from February of 2016, Martin is accused of forging multiple checks from the 93 year old victim.

Martin was taken to the Fayette County jail, where she is being held on $10,000 cash bond.
