A Southwest Wisconsin woman, accused of causing the death of her young child, has been deemed not competent to stand trial.

31 year old Renae Bellis of Boscobel was charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide, and Obstructing an Officer.

Bellis had told authorities that her 3 month old baby was struck by the child's father. The incident happened in July, at Bellis' home in Boscobel.

However, during a second interview with police, Bellis admitted to hitting and slapping the child.

A judge has now ordered Bellis to a mental health institute to regain competency.
