As reported by KWWL, a deadly shooting took place in Waterloo early this morning, March 22.

Per KCRG, "In a news release, police said they were called just after 4 a.m. to an apartment at 627 West 2nd Street."

It took place on West 2nd Street, where local authorities had the street and multiple houses taped off.

The victim was a 41-year-old man who was shot in his abdomen. Paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took the man to Unity Point-Allen Hospital where was pronounced dead later, according to The Courier. His identity has not been released to the public, as family notification is pending.

The investigation remains ongoing, and there has been no report as to the suspect or motive of this deadly crime.

This comes less than a month after a 16-year-old was charged with shooting a man in the arm and in the chest in the area of 617 Dawson Street, Waterloo.

The teen was "was charged with first-degree robbery, willful injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent," according to KCRG.

A 19-year-old was arrested in connection to a shooting that took place in early January of this year at a Waterloo Prime Mart.

Per KWWL, "Waterloo Police arrested Eugene Octavius Love Jr. on Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of Independence Ave. for Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon."

Love stepped out of his vehicle and shot 18-year-old Courtney Lamont Harris in the Prime Mart parking lot on broadway street, where he was found dead. KWWL reported that "According to a criminal complaint, Love exited a vehicle that was stopped on Edwards Street and walked over to the Prime Mart parking lot, where he allegedly fired a gun multiple times into a car that matches the description of the victim's car."

The complaint added that he re-ented the passenger side of the vehicle, which promptly drove away.
