An ambulance that responded to an emergency call this morning, crashed on it's way back to an Iowa City hospital.

At about 7:15am, the Johnson County Sheriff received a report of a Johnson County Ambulance that was traveling west on Intestate 80, had been involved in an accident on it's way back from Cedar County.

After it left to go to the accident scene, the ambulance was advised that it could disregard the call. The ambulance was then turned around to head back to Iowa City.

The vehicle was headed west, when it went out of control, into the north ditch off the interstate, then rolled onto it's side.

No patients were in the ambulance at the time, and the driver and passenger in the emergency vehicle were not hurt.

The Iowa City Fire Department assisted the Johnson County Sheriff at the scene.
