
Accident Injures Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy
A Fayette County sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries and his patrol car was destroyed in a weekend accident near Randalia, west of Fayette.
According to sheriff's officials, Deputy Christopher Schveiger was patrolling on County Road W-25 just north of Iowa Highway 93 when his vehicle hit loose gravel on a curve, entered a ditch and struck a tree. Authorities said there was dense fog at the time of the accident, which happened around 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 21, 2017).
Schveiger was treated for minor injuries at the West Union hospital and later released. The patrol vehicle is considered a total loss.
The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol, at the request of Fayette County sheriff's officials.
