Fayette County officials have issued citations to 3 businesses in the county, following a tobacco sting.

On Monday, April 23rd, the Fayette County Sheriff, in conjunction with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, conducted tobacco compliance checks at retail establishments around the county. The sheriff sent a minor, under the supervision of a deputy, into a business to see if he could purchase any tobacco products.

Three of those businesses were not compliant, and the retail clerks were cited for providing tobacco to a minor.

Those receiving citations were 26 year old Tiffany Laba who works at Guppy's on the Go in Elgin, 24 year old Kacie Combs who is a bartender at the Elgin Tap, and 31 year old Jonathan Roach, a clerk at the Casey's General Store in Clermont.

The state could enforce additional charges on each business, if the three are convicted.
