Where to Get the Best Sushi in the State of Iowa [PHOTOS]
We may not be close to the ocean, but that doesn't mean we don't have some good sushi here in Iowa!
After hearing about the opening of Izumi Sushi in Downtown Cedar Rapids earlier this week, I thought I would do a little digging into the best sushi restaurants across the state. I came across a recent article from Eat This that outlines the number one sushi restaurant in all 50 states, and the pick for Iowa is over in Des Moines.
The article says that Miyabi 9, located at 512 E Grand Ave, has the very best sushi in Iowa. It reads:
"You may not think of Iowa as sushi country, and it's kinda not. But Miyabi 9 will definitely change your perception of the quality of sushi you can get in the midwest."
Miyabi 9 was founded by Master Chef Mike Miyabi, who got his start in the kitchen over in Osaka, Japan. After years of running restaurants around the U.S., he eventually opened Miyabi 9 in Des Moines. Unfortunately, Mike announced that he was leaving the restaurant back in October, but it is still open for business under new ownership.
If you don't want to drive all the way to Des Moines for good sushi, no worries! There are some great restaurants right here in Eastern Iowa, too. Here are the top five according to Yelp:

4. Red Ginger
