Waterloo Driver Charged for Rolling SUV Near Waverly
A Waterloo man is being charged with causing a one-vehicle rollover accident near Waverly.
It happened at about 3:15pm Tuesday (Oct. 13), on southbound Highway 218, near mile marker 198, south of Waverly. A 2000 Honda CRV sport utility vehicle was found upright by deputies, after it rolled once.
Bremer County deputies who arrived at the scene, were told by a witness that the driver and a passenger were picked up by another vehicle, which continued south on 218.
With help from the Iowa State Patrol, the two were located in Waterloo.
An investigation determined that the driver, 49 year old Victor Matute of Waterloo, had driven onto the shoulder, lost control, and went into the median, where it rolled over once, coming to rest on it's wheels.
No one was reported injured.
Matute is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control, and No Drivers License.
The Bremer County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Waverly Fire Department, Waverly Paramedics, and Dale's Repair and Wrecker service.
