Authorities have arrested a Waterloo man on charges connected to an accident that injured a bicyclist Tuesday afternoon.

L.A. Jefferson, 42, is charged with leaving the scene of a serious accident. Court records show his bond was set at $100,000.

Police identified the injured bicyclist as 22-year-old Dilail Salkic of Waterloo. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Tuesday's accident happened just before 4 PM near the intersection of West 3rd Street and Western Avenue in Waterloo. When police and fire rescue paramedics arrived, they found Salkic and discovered the vehicle that struck him had left the accident site.

According to police, a car matching the suspect vehicle's description was later found about one block away. Officers then took Jefferson into custody and booked him into the Black Hawk County Jail.
