One week after a body was found in a burning sport utility vehicle in Waterloo, authorities have released the man's name.

Police said Friday an autopsy identified the victim as Christopher Baker, 29, of Waterloo. The exact cause of his death was not revealed, but officials said in a news release that foul play was not suspected.

On June 14, officers responded to a vehicle fire near the intersection of Kimball Ave. and Park Lane shortly after 2:15 AM. When they arrived, Baker's body was discovered inside the burning SUV. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was discovered just minutes after a stabbing was reported at a home on Burbank Avenue, a few blocks away. Police said a woman suffered multiple non-life-threatening wounds in the attack. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to police, the woman told investigators she was stabbed by a man while the two of them were in an S-U-V. Authorities later confirmed the S-U-V was the same one found burning near a utility pole in the 3200 block of Kimball Ave., with Baker inside.
